Prep School Pumas

Built from the past, enjoying the present, and building their future

The Prep School Pumas is a unique programme designed for budding athletes in both rugby and cricket. Catering to young players from the age of 8 and upwards, we offer a year-round programme to support athletic development and sport-specific skills for those looking to lead their teams, represent their counties, and pursue a future in sports.

The Past

Prep School Pumas is devised and run by Rob Glaysher (BA Hons Coaching Development) and Nick Benwell (BA Hons), both qualified teachers with over 30 years of combined experience in education and sports. They have a proven track record of developing talented athletes, many of whom have progressed into professional sports. However, beyond success, Rob and Nick firmly believe that enjoyment in sport is key to development. Sport should never feel like a chore—it should be relished, and opportunities for growth should be embraced with enthusiasm.

The Present

The Programme

The current Prep School Pumas offering is a year-round programme designed to support your child's athletic and skill development. Our programme includes:

  • A tailored gym, strength, and agility plan designed by Matt Redman (MA Physical Development), who will also join us on our residential camps.
  • Regular face-to-face residential events (three per year) to enhance training and development.
  • Monthly progress calls with Rob and Nick, plus access to Matt for fitness support.
  • For cricket players, monthly video analysis with Rob, who will provide tailored drills to support skill development.

The Kit

As a member of the Prep School Pumas, your child will receive all necessary equipment to complete their training at home. This includes resistance bands, weighted balls, and other essential tools. Additionally, they will receive official Pumas training kit to wear at our residential camps. Members will also have access to discounted cricket and rugby equipment from our online shop.

The Future

Competitions

As part of the Prep School Pumas programme, we will be entering various tournaments across the UK, competing against county and representative sides. These competitions serve two key purposes:

  1. Providing our athletes with an opportunity to showcase their development and put their training into practice.
  2. Offering exposure to elite training programmes, professional clubs, and pathway setups, increasing their chances of progressing to the highest levels of the sport.

Next Steps

We look forward to welcoming you to the programme and helping your child flourish in their sporting journey!

Best regards,
Rob & Nick
